How Much Does PPF Cost in Braintree and Essex?

The three starting prices for XPEL film, what makes one car's quote differ from another's, and what to look at when comparing installers.

At a glance

Our XPEL film starts at £990 for a Full Frontal, £1,400 for the Track Pack and £3,000 for a Full Car. Those are starting points. The final figure depends on how much of the car is covered, how big and complex the panels are, and what preparation the paint needs first. Send us the make, model and a few photos and we will give you a real number.

Paint protection film at our Braintree studio starts at £990 for a Full Frontal, £1,400 for the Track Pack and £3,000 for a Full Car. Every one of those is a starting price for a typical car in good condition, not a fixed quotation. This article explains what sits behind the numbers, what moves your own figure up or down, and what to look at when you compare quotes.

Guide starting prices for a typical car in good condition. Every job is quoted for the vehicle. The exact panels in each package are listed on the coverage selector.

Each package is a fixed set of panels rather than a loose description, so you know exactly what is and is not covered before anything is quoted. The coverage selector on the PPF page shows all three on the same car, and our guide to choosing between them works through who each one suits.

Why these are starting prices

Film is quoted per vehicle because the work genuinely changes from car to car. The three figures above are what a straightforward job starts at. Four things move it.

Coverage

The biggest variable is simply how much of the car is filmed. A Full Frontal covers the panels that take almost all of the impact damage on a road car. The Track Pack adds the areas that get caught next: A-pillars, roof leading edge and side sills. A Full Car covers every painted exterior panel plus the front and rear lights. More panels means more film, more patterns and more hours, which is why the three prices sit where they do.

Vehicle size

A large SUV or an estate has far more panel area than a hatchback, and the bonnet, bumper and wings on a big car use noticeably more material. Two cars can have the same coverage package and quite different quotes for that reason alone.

Panel complexity

Some bumpers are a single clean surface. Others have vents, splitters, sensors, sharp creases and deep recesses, each of which needs its own section of film fitted and wrapped. A complex front end takes longer to fit well than a simple one, and time is most of what you are paying for. The same applies to bonnets with vents or scoops and to cars with intricate headlight shapes.

Preparation

Film is clear, and it locks in whatever is underneath it. Any swirls or marks in the paint are polished out before the film goes on, and the amount of correction needed depends on the paint's condition. A new car with clean paint needs little. A used car that has been through brush washes needs more, and that is reflected in the quote. We also check the paint's history first, because film should only go onto healthy, well-adhered paint. If a panel has been poorly repainted we will tell you before quoting rather than after.

Finish and coating

We fit three XPEL films: ULTIMATE PLUS, which is clear gloss, STEALTH, which is satin, and COLOR PPF. If you are considering a satin or colour finish rather than clear, say so when you ask, so the quote reflects the film you actually want rather than a general figure. The film can also be ceramic coated after fitting, which makes it easier to keep clean, and that is priced as an option.

What to send us for an accurate quote

The more of this you can give us up front, the closer the first figure will be to the final one.

  • Make, model and year. Panel sizes and shapes are what we quote from.
  • The coverage you are thinking about, or the panels that worry you most if you are not sure yet.
  • The paint's condition and history. Photos in daylight help. Mention any resprays or repairs you know about.
  • How the car is used. Daily motorway miles and country lanes point towards different coverage.
  • Whether you want it coated after fitting, and any interest in a satin or colour finish.

With that we can usually give a realistic figure by message. The firm price is confirmed once we have seen the car.

What to compare between quotes

Two PPF quotes are rarely for the same job, even when the headline word is the same. Compare these before comparing the price.

  • The exact panel list. "Front end" can mean five panels or two. Ask for the list and check that mirrors, headlights and the full wings are included.
  • How edges are handled. Our patterns come from XPEL's Design Access Program for your exact vehicle, and where we want an edge wrapped the pattern is extended before cutting. Nothing is ever cut on your paintwork. Ask any installer how they do it.
  • The film and the fitter. Which brand, which product, and whether the installer is accredited for it. We are XPEL accredited installers.
  • What preparation is included. A quote that skips correction is cheaper for a reason.
  • The warranty, read accurately. Eligible XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS and STEALTH installations carry XPEL's 10-year limited product warranty against specified manufacturing defects, including yellowing, cracking, blistering and delamination. Full XPEL terms apply. It covers the film itself, not impact damage to the car, so be wary of anyone describing it as damage cover.
  • Where the work happens. Film needs a dust-managed space and the car needs time to cure before it goes back out. Ours is fitted in the studio and stays until it has.

Is it worth the money?

That depends on what is damaging your car, which is a different question from what film costs. If your bonnet and bumper collect chips every winter, a Full Frontal is often the cheapest way to stop paying for them. If your paint problem is swirls and dull colour, film is the wrong product and correction and coating is the right one. For a wider view of what everything we do costs, see our guide to detailing prices.

If you would rather just ask, send us the car and how you use it through the quote form and we will come back with a figure and a recommendation, including when the sensible answer is less coverage than you were expecting.
