XPEL Paint Protection Film Protection, Perfected.

Preserve the finish you bought the car for. XPEL Paint Protection Film helps defend vulnerable bodywork against stone chips, road debris and light surface damage, installed in our Braintree studio.

Overview

A physical barrier for your paintwork

XPEL paint protection film being squeegeed onto a windscreen during installation

Paint protection film is a clear urethane layer applied over your paint. It has real thickness and real give, so it absorbs the impact of stones and road grit instead of passing it into your clear coat.

We are XPEL accredited installers, fitting Ultimate Plus in clear gloss, Stealth in satin and COLOR PPF, every pattern cut from XPEL’s DAP library for your exact vehicle.

Fitting happens in our Braintree studio, where dust control genuinely matters to the finish. You choose how far the film goes, from the panels that take the most punishment to every painted exterior panel.

The install matters

Not all installations are equal

With film, most of what you are paying for is the fitting. Patterns, edges and dust control are what separate film you never notice from film you always do.

What XPEL film gives you

Six reasons, in detail

A physical sacrificial barrier that takes the impact of road debris before it reaches your paint. A coating is a chemical layer and cannot do this, no matter how it is marketed.

Light wash marks and swirls in the film itself can self-heal with time and warmth. XPEL's own guidance puts it at roughly 20 to 30 minutes at room temperature.

Ultimate Plus has high optical clarity and preserves the character of the original finish. Stealth converts it to satin, and XPEL COLOR PPF changes it outright.

Quality film on healthy paint removes cleanly, and a single damaged panel can be replaced without touching the rest.

A chipped front end is one of the first things a buyer or lease inspector notices, and one of the most expensive to put right.

Film and a ceramic coating do different jobs and work well together. Coated film is slicker and easier to keep clean, while the film underneath carries on taking the impacts.

And the benefits don’t stop there.

Our process

How film is fitted

Preparation and accurate patterns are the difference between film you notice and film you don’t.

  1. Assessment

We check the paint's condition and history first, because film should only go onto healthy, well-adhered paint.

  2. Preparation

Film is clear and locks in whatever is underneath, so swirls and defects need polishing out before it goes on.

  3. Pattern plotting

Patterns are plotted from XPEL’s DAP library for your exact model, so every cut is made off the car rather than on your paintwork.

  4. Installation

Panels are fitted in a controlled, dust-managed environment, with edges wrapped where the panel design allows for an invisible finish.

  5. Curing

The car stays with us in the studio while the film adheres fully and any installation moisture clears.

  6. Final inspection

Every edge and panel is checked under studio lighting before handover, with care guidance.

Being straight with you

What PPF can’t promise

We would rather you knew this before you booked than found out after.

  • It will not make paint completely damage-proof. Severe impacts can still damage the film and, in rare cases, the panel beneath it.
  • Self-healing applies to light marks in the film itself, such as fine swirls from washing, not to damaged paint or deep scratches through the film.
  • It still needs looking after. Safe wash methods matter as much with film fitted as without it.
  • It is a barrier, not a guarantee. It reduces the risk and severity of damage. It does not remove it.
  • The warranty covers the film, not the car. It is for manufacturing defects in the film, not insurance against stone damage, and it does not cover the paint underneath.

Common questions

Paint protection film questions

What does XPEL accredited actually mean?

XPEL only allow trained and approved installers to fit their film and register the manufacturer warranty. It means the film is cut from XPEL’s DAP pattern data for your exact vehicle, fitted to their standard, and backed by a limited warranty an unaccredited fitter cannot offer. With film, the installation matters as much as the product itself.

Will removing the film damage my paint?

Not when quality film has been fitted to healthy, original paint. The adhesive is designed for professional removal without leaving residue. The exception is poorly adhered or previously resprayed paint, which is exactly why we assess the condition and history of every panel before fitting. Removal is a job for an installer, not a driveway.

Is the film visible once fitted?

Gloss film is effectively invisible and can slightly enhance depth and clarity. Where a panel design allows, we wrap the edges so there is no visible line at all. If you want a deliberate change of finish, satin film gives a matte look.

Should I choose PPF or a ceramic coating?

They solve different problems. Film is a physical barrier that stops chips and scratches on exposed panels. A coating adds gloss, chemical resistance and easier washing across the whole car but will not stop an impact. Many customers combine both.

Can I have a ceramic coating over the film?

Yes, and it is a common choice. We use a coating suited to film, so ask when you book and we will quote it alongside your coverage.

What if one panel gets damaged?

That panel alone can be removed and refitted with new film. There is no repainting and no colour-match concern, which is one of the practical advantages of film over touching up paint.
